Eric Allen Neustadter, (also known by his Xbox Live Gamertag "e"), is the former operations manager and services architect for the Microsoft gaming network Xbox Live.[1][2] Neustadter was frequently a co-host of Larry Hryb's "Major Nelson Radio" Xbox-related podcast. Neustadter was with Xbox Live from 2002 to 2015.

On October 23, 2015, Neustadter announced on Twitter that after 18.5 years, he was leaving Microsoft.[3] On August 29, 2016, Neustadter joined The Pokémon Company, where he is now the VP of technology.[4]

Background

Neustadter studied computer science at the University of Oregon and joined Microsoft in April 1997.[5]

According to Microsoft, his "e" Gamertag is the the first to have ever been created on Xbox Live, dating back to August 13, 2002.[6] Neustadter picked the Gamertag in the early stages of Xbox Live development as an abbreviation for his first name.[2]

Identifying himself only by his Xbox Live gamertag "e", Neustadter briefly appeared in the video at the end of the Xbox 360 viral marketing campaign OurColony. In his role as Director of Xbox Operations for Xbox Live, Neustadter appeared in a video which was included with all consoles of the Xbox 360 when it was originally released. Neustadter is also credited as having contributed to Halo 3 in the role of "Platform & Xbox Live: Microsoft Xbox".[7].
