QuickTime for Windows was a version of Apple's QuickTime video software for Microsoft's Windows operating systems.

Basic QuickTime playback software is available for free from Apple. Purchasing a "Pro" registration key unlocks editing, conversion, and exporting features.[1]
History
Old QuickTime logo used from 1994 to 1999.
QuickTime was originally developed by Apple for the Macintosh operating system. Version 1.0 was ported to Windows 3.x by San Francisco Canyon Company and released in November 1992. The technology soon appeared in Video for Windows, leading to a restraining order issued by a U.S. federal court against Microsoft in March 1995.[2] The infringing code from San Francisco Canyon Company was subsequently removed from Video for Windows version 1.1e, and the lawsuit was among several that were settled in August 1997.
QuickTime 7.7.9 was the last version for Windows Vista and Windows 7. As of January 2016, QuickTime for Windows is no longer supported by Apple.[3]
