Magnifier (formerly Microsoft Magnifier[1][2][3]) is a screen magnifying software app intended for visually impaired people to use while using Windows.
Magnifier allows the user to zoom into part of the screen, making it easier to see. The magnified image follows the movement of the mouse cursor and can be magnified at various levels.
Magnifier was first bundled with Windows 98 and is included in all subsequent releases. In Windows Vista, Magnifier is based on the Windows Presentation Foundation, which allows it to create sharp magnified images of other applications based on the same graphical subsystem. Starting with Windows 7, the Magnifier can be set to fill the entire display, and the cursor can be used to pan across the screen.
Magnifier is part of the Ease of Access category of programs.
